"Dr. Gruman provides people and families facing life-changing diagnoses with a major new resource. The appendices are pure gold, bringing together resources that will enhance the quality of their care and their lives."
— Allan Dietrich, MD, Prof. Family Medicine, Dartmouth Medical School
I developed this site to introduce the book to people who are thinking about getting it for themselves, a family member, a friend, or a patient. You can read the Introduction — which tells why I wrote it and describes my perspective. Take a look at the Table of Contents, which gives you an idea of the kind of information you'll find.
You'll also find a small sample of resources drawn from the book's Appendices. Websites, phone numbers and/or descriptions of resources and organizations provided in either the book's main content or appendices may have changed since the second edition was published in 2010. Please refer to and use online search engines to check for accuracy.
I have written a short note to each of the audiences I think will be interested in reading AfterShock:
It is my hope and the hope of the hundreds of people who shared their stories of the first difficult days following a devastating diagnosis that this book will be useful to you.
